Thank you for visiting What Your Kitchen Needs. I know it doesn’t look like it yet, but this website…this store…is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. I have worked in the Hospitality and Lodging Industry for over four decades, starting out as a dishwasher in a restaurant that had no dishwashing machine. My two hands washed every pot, pan, plate, glass and piece of silverware used in a day. A couple of years later, working as a prep cook at the Student Union helped me put myself through college. As the years passed, I graduated from there to server, bartender, Food and Beverage Manager at a well-known and respected hotel chain, to finally becoming an operations and accounting manager of a beautiful oceanfront resort. I have seen a lot of kitchens in my day, but my favorites by far belonged to friends and family.
My own kitchens over the years have ranged from the tiniest galley to ones with enough space and storage to satisfy even a small appliance junkie like me. Oddly, the smallest of them was the one that fed the most people. As the mom of two beautiful kids, I had to make it work for packing lunches, baking for the PTA, making the occasional office treat for coworkers, housing our ever-growing collections of coffee cups and glassware, helping with a seemingly endless number of school projects and, of course, feeding our family and friends. Figuring out pantry storage was like an ongoing game of Tetris. But we did make it work.
Now that the kids are grown and have their own kitchens, they have new needs to address. My "little" girl has some health issues that make a lot of kitchen chores very difficult...and she loves to cook. We are always on the hunt for anything that can make cooking a healthy meal and cleaning up afterwards achievable. And my son has developed a passion for smoking, searing, charring and grilling meat...the bigger and spicier, the better. Gadgets for outdoor cookery and really cool knives are in high demand there. So, to serve my beloved children, I research every new culinary tool that comes down the pike.
Now I’d like to serve you. With your help I hope that this store will become a place to find useful and unique products to satisfy your kitchen needs and solve your kitchen dilemmas.
